Cherry Park Barn is set in the area called ‘The South Hams’ which is an old English word meaning ‘sheltered place’. Shielded by Dartmoor to the North and caressed by the Gulf Stream in the South. This means that the area enjoys one of the mildest climates, often experiencing early springs and late balmy Autumns.

Places to Visit
There are many pretty villages and towns to be explored including the Ancient market towns of Kingsbridge and Modbury (which are 5 and 2 miles away respectively). Both these towns provide all your needs including a variety of good eating houses, local produce and places of interest. For even greater variety the Maritime city of Plymouth is only 12 miles away and easily reached by road.

Salcombe and Dartmouth
The scenic delights of Salcombe and Dartmouth are close by and provide beautiful estuary cruising along the navigable creeks. Sailing, boating and watersport’s are key activities in both of these towns, and each have a history and charm all of their own.

There are plenty of beautiful sandy beaches all around the South Devon coast, the majority of which are patrolled by RNLI Lifeguards. Surfing and Body boarding are very popular activities and all equipment and lessons can be bought or hired from several locations.

Other Activities/Sports
The stunning South West coastal path is hugely popular for all types of walker and is easily accessible. The Dartmoor National Park is only 9 miles away and provides an alternative and beautiful landscape all of its own, where there are a large variety of walks on well known tracks and more difficult ones for the fit and adventurous.

For Golfers there are various courses in the area and more information can be supplied on request. Horse riding is also a popular activity and there are several riding stables nearby.
