Local Beaches
In South Devon we can safely say that we have some of the UK’s best beaches and something to suit everyone.
Some of the closest ones are listed below:
Bantham Beach – 6 miles away, a sandy beach, privately owned and lifeguarded for approximately 9 months of the year. With an estuary running down one side.
Bigbury Beach – 5 miles away, a sandy beach the other side of the estuary from Bantham and a causeway at low tide leading to Burgh Island.
Challaborough Beach – 5 miles away, a sandy beach and popular for families and surfers.
South Milton & Thurlestone Sands – 8 miles away close to a national Trust car park and within walking distance of Thurlestone Village.
Hope Cove – 10 miles away. A smaller sandy beach set within Inner and Outer Hope Cove villages, picturesque especially for sunsets with its own private Lifeboat.
Mothercombe Beach – 9 miles away, a private beach, only open Wednesdays and Sundays it has a large car park in a field and has a unique eatery called the School House on the way to the beach.
